February 10, 2003 Regular Monthly Meeting

The February 10, 2003 regular monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman Carter at 7:00 PM.  All in attendance stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Supervisor Freedlund made motion to accept the January 13, 2003 regular monthly meeting minutes, Supervisor Cupit 2nd, all in favor.

Treasures Report

 

The Clerk read the treasures report.                                   Driveway Fund:         $20,437.91

Supervisor Cupit made motion to accept treasurer’s report and to transfer $7,000 to checking from savings, Chairman Carter 2nd, all in favor.

 

Chairman Carter made motion to sign 6 extra checks for the upcoming month and to accept the claims list, Supervisor Freedlund 2nd, all in favor.

 

Road Report

 

Supervisor Cupit suggested that the Road Supervisor give the road report or a synopsis after Gary is finished.

 

Gary Guse read the road report.

 

Gary to repair the old disc mower

 

Gary will attend a class in gravel and road maintenance design in St. Cloud on March 26, 2003.

 

Discussion on Shamrock’s dumpster on Crown Drive it is on the township’s right of way.  Other items on the right of way are a trailer and pontoon.  Chairman Carter spoke with Tom Alvine and he is working on moving these items.

 

Orville Polzine has not yet moved the trailer on the township’s right of way.  Supervisor Freedlund will speak with Mr. Polzine.

 

The items and water tanks have been moved from the Turrell property.

 

Chairman Carter made motion to purchase  34 culverts and supplies at a cost of approximately $6,000 per bid from Contech, Supervisor Freedlund 2nd, all in favor.

 

Gary to get a bid on painting the 1-Ton, the bid is to include sandblasting, repairing any rust, painting the doorjambs and wheels.  Gary is to bring the bid to the next meeting.

 

Gary to purchase new coveralls at Petersons Mill

 

Tom Lind has returned to work and will not be able to help with maintanance.

 

Supervisor Freedlund made motion to accept the road report, Supervisor Cupit 2nd, all in favor.

 

New Business

 

Supervisor Freedlund to speak with Orvill Polzine about moving his truck off the right of way.

 

Old Business

 

Supervisor Freedlund checked on the CPR classes at the County, they will not be holding them until later in the year.  Gary should be able to attend with the County employees.

 

No bids have come in for the well caps.  Supervisor Cupit will try again.

 

Business from the Floor

 

Scott Merkle presented some pictures of a culvert on Bending Ave.  He would like it to be lowered to assist in drainage issues he is having on his property.  Chairman Carter said that the board could not make a decision tonight if that will be done.  Supervisor Cupit stated that this would be put on a list of items to be looked at more closely.

 

Darlene Merkle asked if the residents on Bending could purchase chloride through the Township this spring.  Clerk will contact her when the township receives the costs for chloride this year.

 

Jim and Denise Benson – Andee Ct.  The Benson’s were at the meeting to speak about the maintenance of their road.  The township has not accepted Andee Ct. thus far.  Jerry Carlson, developer has not completed the road at this time.  It still needs a 2nd lift and there are some issues with the hammerhead.  After the road has been completed and then reviewed by Warren White, Engineer, the board will make a make a decision on accepting this road.

 

Mr. Benson asked if the homeowner’s paid the costs would the township maintain Andee Ct. until the matter has been resolved.  Chairman Cater explained that there is a policy that the township will not maintain any private roads.  There was also some discussion about possibly requiring developers notify the residents about roads that have not been accepted by the township.

 

Chairman Carter made motion to reconvene on February 22, 2003 at 9:00 AM, Supervisor Freedlund 2nd, all in favor.

 

FEBRUARY 22, 2003

 

Completed the 2004 Levy for approval at the March 11, 2003 annual meeting.

 

Clerk to request information on Road Tax Refund from State of MN

 

Clerk to contact Shamrock Disposal about removing dumpster on Crown Drive.
